If this is your first time seeing us for Chiropractic, Laser Therapy, Decompression Therapy or Registered Massage Therapy appointments - Please ensure you are booking an INITIAL appointment type as our therapists will provide a consultation/exam prior to getting started with the treatments.

All subsequent Chiropractic appointments cannot be BOOKED online, however, you can VIEW availability. Be aware that more than what is showing may be available as some practitioners use multiple rooms. Please call us at 250-382-7246 or email us at reception@activehealthclinic.ca to book chiropractic appointments.

If you are unable to find the time you need, try selecting a shorter treatment or selecting a different practitioner. Please contact us via email or call if you are having trouble finding the time you need. No new Initial appointment is required if you have seen one massage therapist, but are booking with another you have not yet seen as our practitioners have the ability to view your previous chart information

Please advise us if you have an active ICBC or WorkSafe claim and we can book you with the appropriate practitioner accepting such claims. We will need notification 24 hours prior and booking with a practitioner that does not accept these claims, may result in our need to cancel your scheduled appointment.

We do not direct bill to ICBC, Worksafe or insurance providers. You can submit your claim to your provider via their website or app, and they typically reimburse within 24-48 hours.

If you have not seen us in 1 year, we will need you to update your intake form. For Chiropractic care, we will need to schedule you for a Re-Exam which allows for additional time for consult/exam prior to treatment.

As clinical Director and founder of Active Health & Wellness Clinic and MotionFIT Athletics, Dr. Starr’s comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach blends state of the art technology with modern chiropractic care.

From early on Dr. Sean Starr was interested in health & Fitness. He grew up in Victoria, BC where he was actively involved in many sports including soccer, hockey, golf, baseball, and weight training. During these competitive activities he gained a greater appreciation for the biomechanics of the human body, sports performance and injury prevention / rehab. He did four years of undergraduate studies working towards a Bachelor of Science Degree. Following that he was accepted at Western States University in Portland, Oregon where he spent an additional four years completing his education to become a Doctor of Chiropractic in 2004.

When working with you as a patient his treatment plans are always designed to be the most tried and tested ways to help you reach your personal health related goals. His approach to treatment is best described as a biomechanical approach that is evidence based (supported by scientific studies). He is one of a select few chiropractors here in Victoria fully certified in Active Release Techniques (see www.activerelease.com for more info). This is the gold standard in soft tissue treatments that both locates and breaks down adhesions and scar tissue which are causing pain, stiffness, weakness, numbness, and physical dysfunction. Dr. Starr combines this with Chiropractic adjustments to restore freedom and motion to a specific joint or area. These treatments are supplemented with modalities such as ultrasound, electrotherapy, laser therapy or decompression therapy to assist with the pain relief and tissue healing. Dr. Starr also gives his patients lifestyle recommendations and specific rehabilitation exercises are prescribed to treat and prevent the condition from returning. Through a very thorough history and examination, Dr. Starr will get to the root cause of your problem and provide you with the diagnosis and treatment for the specific symptoms of your condition. His goal is to help you live an active, pain free and healthy lifestyle and be able do the activities you are passionate about for as long as you are wishing to do so.

In order to provide his patients with the most up to date ways to improve performance, reduce injuries and increase mobility Dr. Starr has partnered up with Fusionetics, an elite sports science company from the US. This resulted in the development of MotionFIT Athletics to offer active individuals between 8-88 the most effective way to Move Better, Perform Stronger and Recover Faster in their sport or activity of choice. Our health is often undervalued until our daily lives are impacted and patients then look to “Get Well” as fast as possible. Dr. Renshaw believes there is a difference between relieving symptoms and achieving optimal health. If your visit is inspired by a recent accident or over-work, his first goal is to help you “feel better” ASAP. If you then choose to minimize or eliminate the cause of your aches and pains, Dr. Renshaw is committed to creating a unique partnership with you and supporting you in your path to wellness.

Dr. Renshaw has been practicing chiropractic since 1995; prior to that he worked in the sport science field of performance evaluation. His focus in treatment is primarily based on his studies of Applied Kinesiology, which connects muscle imbalances to spinal nerve function as well as your organ and gland health. If we can understand the cause, we can direct our own recovery.

By combining spinal adjustments, exercise, good nutrition and stress reduction, the best possible health can be achieved. Dr. Renshaw has enjoyed being a chiropractor from the moment he saw his first patient. Although no one type of doctor can do everything, Dr. Renshaw believes he can play a helpful role. Painful & uncomfortable symptoms need not disrupt your work, home and social activities or recreational fun.
